It’s taken a turn for the cold and this afternoon I found myself hoping that Tage would get home from school before I had to leave to pick up Brynja, so that I wouldn’t have to bundle Yrsa up and drag her out in the -15°C (5°F) air for a second time today. The appointed time arrived, however, with no sign of his return, so the baby and I set out. After a few minutes, we met up with Tage and Petra, who had decided to wait for us, and we all carried on to Brynja’s school.<\/p>\n
It turned out to have been a good thing that I didn’t leave the baby home with the other kids, because the pick-up was far from the quick dash up and back that I’d had in mind. When I went in to get her, Brynja was in. a. mood. She wasn’t ready to leave so she yelled and cried and kicked and hit and was generally a giant pain in the ass for about twenty minutes, until — having exhausted all of my own tricks as well as Tage’s and a long-suffering teacher’s — I hauled her bodily from the place, minus shoes, hat, gloves, and coat.<\/p>\n
Once outdoors, she capitulated immediately on the the shoes, but it wasn’t until we were halfway home that she decided she’d wear her coat, albeit unzipped. Her hat and gloves stayed in the stroller where I’d tossed them, and though she claimed not to be cold, I noticed she didn’t waste any time getting in the house once we were home.<\/p>\n
