Yesterday was the first day since I started keeping my blog here that I didn’t write an entry. I sat down several times and started trying to come up with something, but it just wasn’t happening. I feel a bit disappointed that I managed to keep up my daily entries for only two weeks, but on the other hand, now the pressure to write something every single day has lifted.<\/p>\n
We had visitors this afternoon, an American woman who moved to Sweden just three weeks ago, her boyfriend, and her six-year-old son. We had a good time chatting, drinking coffee, and eating cake and cookies while the kids played. It was nice to have an all-English afternoon, but it felt a bit weird to me to speak English socially. I noticed also that I was caught off-guard every time the little boy spoke, because he speaks English. I’m not used to hearing little kids speak English anymore!<\/p>\n
They came bearing lots of gifts, including a gorgeous gerbera daisy. Those are my favorite flowers, so I hope I can keep it alive for a little while! Lydia and Tage were the lucky recipients of toys and Lydia also got a new Pez dispenser and some of her favorite gummy candies. What nice surprises! For my part, I made a Mississippi Mud Pie (an absolutely decadent chocolate cake) and kolakakor<\/i> (a Swedish cookie similar-ish to sugar cookies but better). We have a few pieces of the cake left, and I think I’d better invite my in-laws over for fika<\/i> tomorrow afternoon or else I’ll run the risk of eating it all myself! Hmm, maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all.<\/p>\n
Lydia is spending the night over at her cousin’s house tonight, and it feels very quiet here after all the activity of the day. Even the dogs are somewhat subdued. I think they wore themselves out barking and worrying themselves while we had company (they were outside the whole time). I thought Olof and I might go in to town and do a little shopping and have some dinner, but it’s gotten late and it looks like staying home is what’s on our agenda for the evening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
