I have no experience whatever with this style of music instruction, but I&#8217;ve heard very good things about it, so I&#8217;m hopeful that it leads to good things for us.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know how common it is in Suzuki lessons elsewhere, but at the music school here parent involvement includes not only me attending all lessons for two years, but also me buying a violin of my own and learning alongside my boy.  In fact, for the first several weeks, the group lessons are parents-only, and the kids join in only after we&#8217;ve all gotten a rudimentary understanding of all things violin.  Earlier this week, I went to the first lesson, and I admit I left feeling a bit daunted.  I spent eight years in band as a kid, but nothing about playing the trombone prepared me for the violin.
