Olof’s birthday was Tuesday, and I was charged with the task of baking the “tastiest cake ever.” I don’t know that I succeeded, but this cake should surely make the short list for any tasty-cake prize.<\/p>\n

It’s not the prettiest cake ever, I grant you, but man, did that thing go down easy. It was a four-layer chocolate cake filled with, in order from the bottom up, mocha buttercream, almond buttercream, and chocolate buttercream, with a ganache poured over the top. We ate about half of it not long after it was made, and chilled the rest until yesterday. It was good the first night, but the second day it was positively heavenly. If I make it again, I think I’ll do it a day in advance and let it sit in the fridge overnight before serving it. <\/p>\n
