After weeks and weeks of a long, drawn-out fall, winter arrived in a great big hurry this past weekend.\u00a0 We woke on Saturday morning to a temperature of -14\u00b0C (7°F), and though it didn’t stay that cold for long, it was plenty long enough for those poor souls–Olof, Lydia, and Tage–who had to be outside for ice skating school.<\/p>\n

We had warmer temperatures Sunday, and with them came our first real snow of the season.\u00a0 It snowed most of the day and evening, followed by wild and windy blizzardy conditions all night and into the day on Monday.\u00a0 More snow again today, but that’s stopped now as it’s gotten colder again (-10\u00b0C, 14\u00b0F).\u00a0 No matter, though … there’s more than enough of the white stuff out there to last me a good long time.<\/p>\n

Olof took this picture of Lydia’s school building this afternoon on his way to pick Petra up from pre-school.\u00a0 It was about 1:30pm then, and yes, it really was that dark.\u00a0 I’m already counting the days to the solstice.
