Suddenly it struck me that he was being unusually quiet, so I turned to look at him and saw that he was sitting completely silent and still, eyes closed and gripping a fork in one hand. My heart skipped a beat and I jumped up to go to him. He didn’t respond when I called his name, and he didn’t stir at all when I picked him up from the high chair. Of course, he had merely fallen asleep, and after I reassured myself that he was breathing normally I took him into the bedroom and laid him on the bed.
