God, what shit weather.\u00a0 It has been pouring down torrents since the middle of last night, and I don’t know when it’ll let up.\u00a0 That, combined with gusts of blowing-the-trash-cans-over-strength wind, made me drive the 500 or so yards (or meters, same difference mostly) to Petra’s pre-school this morning, and even though we weren’t outside but a minute or two on either end of the trip, we were soaked through when we made it inside.\u00a0 Before entering the school proper, I had to go into the bathroom off the hallway and sop the streaming water from my face and hair and even after that I was more wet than dry.\u00a0 Same thing, in reverse, when we came home an hour later.\u00a0 Delightful.<\/p>\n
Later on, I took Lydia to town for a back-to-school (tomorrow’s the day!) hair appointment, and, if anything, the rain was coming down even harder then.\u00a0 We did manage to find a space in the underground parking below the mall where the salon is located, so we escaped the rain then, but I did still have to drive in it.\u00a0 For most of the trip home I was going little more than half of the posted speed limit, and we were still hydroplaning all over the place.\u00a0 And other drivers were passing us every chance they got, of course.\u00a0 I haven’t felt so relieved to pull into my own driveway in a long time.<\/p>\n
