Almost a teenager

It’s my boy’s twelfth birthday today. That completely does my head in and makes me a little sad, I confess. Before he was born I thought I wanted only daughters, but Tage single-handedly made me appreciate the wonder and beauty of little boys. He’s still a great kid and, in fact, he gets greater all the time, but I can’t help being wistful sometimes for the little boy he was.

  1. Oh my I know EXACTLY what you mean! When David was born it was a really difficult birth and I was certain I was having another girl – imagine in those days they didn’t tell you what the baby’s sex was…Imagine a Skånsk accent shouting “En påååååg, du har har fått en pååååuuug!” I was really put out because I had so quite a few pink baby things at home. However, I took one look at him lying in that perspex cot at my side while they “looked after” me down there and I was bowled over by this beautiful little boy lying peacefully sucking his thumb.
So I am really looking forward to meeting my grandson when he arrives in December and have already bought some little things for him <3
Hope Tage had a great day surrounded by all his girls!

  2. Zach turned 17 August 1. I miss the ball caps and mouth full of bubblegum, backyard adventures that led to unusual pets (ones that didn´t live very long in their tupperware houses). He loved plants and when he was 7 started to cry because the combi in front of us in Umeå had a branch from their christmas tree fall off and they didn´t stop to “rescue” it. So, yes I turned around and we got the branch and took it home where he kept it for the winter.
17..he wanted only money on his steam account for his birthday, no fancy dinner or party and was happy alone skyping in his room with friends, while I sat mentally flipping through pictures that always remain in a mother´s heart of Barney balloons, teletubbie cake sized figurines, spiderman pinatas, pokemon pajama partys and more. A few held back tears of course. Especially when I ask him to a movie and he says,” thanks, mom, some other time, i have plans.” Too Fast. way too fast. love andee
